U.S.A PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY TEST POSITIVE OFF CORONA VIRUS

New york

President Trump announced in a tweet early Friday that he and his wife Melania have both tested positive for the novel coronavirus. “We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately,” he wrote. “We will get through this TOGETHER!” The news came just hours after it was reported that Hope Hicks, a close adviser to Trump who traveled with him aboard Air Force One several times this week, had tested positive.

The president’s physician, Sean P. Conley, wrote later that Trump and his wife “are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.”

Here are some significant developments:
  • Global markets fell Friday morning as the news of President Trump’s positive test compounded uncertainty, one month before the November election.
  • First lady Melania Trump said she and the president were both feeling well, but she did not address whether they had experienced coronavirus symptoms. Vice President Pence said he was praying for the couple. He did not indicate whether he has been tested.
  • Vice President Pence and his wife test negative for coronavirus, a spokesman said Friday morning.
  • World leaders were quick to send well wishes, although some struck a more critical note. French government spokesman Gabriel Attal said Trump’s positive test result was “a sign that the virus spares no one, including those who are the most skeptical about its reality and gravity.”
  • U.S. coronavirus hospitalizations have reached their highest levels since at least May in nine states: Arkansas, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. At least 7,245,000 cases and 207,000 fatalities have been reported nationwide since February.
